Mr Barreca has a particular interest in basketball, tennis and sailing, but above all, a compelling commitment to his family.
Mr Barreca joined the Obesity Surgery Service at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, one of the biggest regional obesity surgery unit in UK in February 2011. He now carry out approximately 100 gastric bypasses and over 25 sleeve resections a year, and has overall performed more than 150 gastric band operations. Over the past ten years he has also developed an enormous clinical and research experience dealing with gastroesophageal and other upper gastrointestinal disorders, and his committed to develop and spread the use of safe minimally invasive surgery.
At Spire Harpenden Hospital, Mr Barreca’s private practice mostly reflect his NHS practice, and involves largely laparopscopic (keyhole) surgery. Mr Barreca has vast experience in treating morbid obesity, gastroesophageal reflux disease, complex hiatus hernia, achalasia, adrenal tumor, splenic disorders and abdominal wall hernias (inguinal and ventral).
