    Personal profile:
    Mr Whitelaw grew up in Scotland but moved to London in 1992, after qualifying from Edinburgh University in 1990.

    He is married with three children and has lived in Hitchin for three years. Besides surgery, he is a keen sailor, regularly skippering cruising yachts on the south coast, western Scotland and beyond.

    Other interests include music - he has played the piano for many years and is currently learning the accordian. He also enjoys hiking and cycling with his family.
