Member of Royal College of Surgeons of EdinburghMember of British Orthopaedic AssociationMember of British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS)
I qualified as a doctor at the Witwatersrand University in South Africa. I undertook my post graduate orthopaedic training in Aberdeen, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and the world renowned Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, Shropshire. Following this I completed a Trauma Fellowship in Toronto prior to commencing my current post at West Herts in 1997.
My main clinical interest is in upper limb surgery, in particular the treatment of shoulder and elbow problems including; impingement, frozen shoulder, arthritis, sports injuries and tendon tears. Most of these procedures are performed arthroscopically (keyhole) which means many patients can be treated as day cases and benefit from a faster recovery.
Within my NHS role I am responsible for training higher surgical trainees and am a Member of the North West Thames Training Rotation Committee.
I am married with four children who take up most of my spare time. I occasionally manage a round of golf and enjoy fishing, gardening, running, cycling and driving my 1964 Massey Ferguson tractor for relaxation.
