Background Information
Professional profile:
I am a general surgeon with two subspecialist interests; pancreato-biliary surgery and general paediatric surgery.

Pancreato-biliary surgery - I have a major interest in gallstone disease performing 190 endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and 150 laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Laparoscopic operations: 96 per cent of cholecystectomies (removal of gallbladder), removal of spleen and appendicectomy.

ERCP is performed in jaundiced patients to extract bile duct stones and insert endoscopic stents for pancreatic lesions. I treat pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer and I am lead clinician for the Beds and Herts pancreatic cancer multidisciplinary team.

General Paediatric Surgery - I see over 1,000 children per year as out-patients and perform 400 operations. The commonest operations are hernias, undescended or absent testes and circumcisions. I offer a local service at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Trust for insertion of PEG tubes for children who are unable to feed normally.

I trained at the following London teaching Hospitals; St Mary's, The Middlesex/University College and the Hammersmith Hospitals.

Research - Sixty-eight publications on treatments for gallstone disease, pancreatitis, ERCP, laparoscopic surgery, splenectomy and sepis, PEG feeding in children.

Recent publications "Acute Gallstone Pancreatitis in Children" and "Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiography in 600 Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy".
