Dr Kukreja is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. He completed undergraduate studies in Cambridge and London and underwent training in Interventional Cardiology at St Mary’s Hospital, the Royal Brompton Hospital and the internationally renowned Thoraxcenter in Rotterdam.

He is accredited in Cardiology and General Medicine. He has co-authored over 30 research articles and over 40 scientific abstracts presented at major international scientific meetings. His clinical interests include general cardiology with particular expertise in all aspects of coronary intervention (angioplasty) and multi-slice CT angiography. His research interests are the evaluation of drug-eluting stents and intracoronary imaging (intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography).

He currently contributes towards the general and interventional cardiology service in East & North Hertfordshire, including the provision of daytime primary percutaneous coronary intervention for local patients suffering a heart attack. He also participates in the on call rota at the Harefield Heart Attack Centre, one of the busiest units in the country providing 24hr emergency treatment for patients from Northwest London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire as well as participating in the general medical on call rota at QE2 hospital in Welwyn Garden City.

Personal profile:

He represented both School and College in a variety of individual and team sports, including rugby, rowing, squash, badminton and chess. He is a keen cyclist and skier.
He reached Grade VII of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the piano, Grade VI in the violin and Grade V in the Theory of Music and currently enjoys listening to a range of contemporary and classical music.
He has attended several wine tasting courses on French, Italian and Spanish wine and has been awarded a Level 2 Certificate in tasting, evaluation and theory of wine.
