Dr Felicity Kaplan is a Consultant in General Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology at Spire Harpenden, and the Lister Hospital in Stevenage where she was appointed to a substantive post in 2004, having worked as a locum Consultant from 2002.
She obtained her MBChB at Groote Schuur Hospital Cape Town, in 1990, followed by a Diploma in Child Health. She went on to specialise in adult General Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology. In 2000, she moved to the UK and spent 2 further years as a Specialist Registrar at the Middlesex Hospital before taking up her post at the Lister Hospital.
She is interested in all aspects of Endocrinology including thyroid, adrenal and pituitary disease, lipid disorders, obesity, polycystic ovary syndrome and metabolic bone disease/osteoporosis. In addition to Types 1 and 2 diabetes, she manages gestational- and adolescent diabetes. She has close links with the St Barts and Middlesex Endocrine Units in London as well as the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
