Bruce Tulloh and Andrew De Beaux are General, Laparoscopic and Upper Gastro-Intestinal surgeons, and carry out all weight loss surgery at Spire Murrayfield Hospital. They will meet with you to discuss your clinical needs and assess what treatment would be most suitable for you. Our consultant surgeons guarantee your safety and quality of treatment throughout the Weight Loss process and are available for pre and post-operative consultation and follow-up.

Davina Robertson

It is vital that you receive specialist care at every step of your weight loss treatment. With our multi disciplinary team approach, that is exactly what you get. Nurses Davina Robertson and Lorna Hunter have been at Spire Murrayfield since 1991 and 1990, respectively. They were integral in the establishment of the Weight Loss service in 2007, and will be involved in your care throughout consultation, pre-assessment, treatment and after-care.

Davina and Lorna are nurses with a specialist interest in weight loss. They will be one of your first points of contact and will facilitate all ongoing appointments at the Hospital to ensure you meet the right member of our multidisciplinary team, at the right time. While providing expert advice and support, Davina and Lorna will also carry out clinical pre-operative assessments. They will remain a close point of contact throughout your stay with us and following discharge, remain contactable daily for advice and further information.

Davina and Lorna, together with our Weight Loss Consultants, offer a Weight Loss Management service at Spire Murrayfield Hospital. If it is decided that you are not presently suitable for weight loss surgery, our team can guide and support you until you are ready. Davina and Lorna, together with our dietitian, can also devise a special weight loss diet for you, to help you lose additional weight in preparation for surgery.

Carol Sutherland

Carol is a fully chartered Clinical Psychologist working as part of the Weight Loss team at Spire Murrayfield Hospital. Every patient who requests to be considered for this type of surgery is assessed by a number of professionals to ensure best practice. Following an initial meeting with our Specialist Bariatric Nurses, an appointment is made to undergo a full psychological assessment. This involves a structured interview and a set of questionnaires, all of which are important in helping to decide whether surgery would be appropriate and beneficial. Any potential difficulties are identified and, where possible, solutions sought. At the end of the meeting, Carol will, if appropriate, indicate that she is either happy to support your request for surgery, or explain that she has concerns, which she will discuss with other members of our multidisciplinary team. The final decision for surgery will be made within this group. 

Carol also undertakes referrals from Consultant Plastic Surgeons for patients interested in cosmetic procedures. This is to help identify those individuals for whom surgery may not be appropriate. 

Carol accepts referrals from other Consultants and routinely receives referrals from General Practitioners.
