His subspeciality training took him to Australia, where he spent a fellowship year training in upper tract laparoscopy and endourology at the St George Hospitals in Sydney, before returning to Scotland as fellow in endourology at the Scottish Lithotriptor Centre in Edinburgh. Simon has developed subspecialty expertise in laparoscopic renal surgery, extracoporeal shockwave lithotripsy, rigid and flexible ureteroscopy with laser stone fragmentation, and percutaneous stone surgery.
