Services provided
Within the NHS Mr Ross provides an ophthalmic, oculoplastic and lacrimal service. Commonly treated conditions include cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes, watery eyes, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, removal of eyelid lumps and cysts, removal and reconstruction of midface skin tumours and correction of eyelid malpositions such as outward turning eyelids.
In addition to the above, he offers specialist care for surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the eyelids and midface. This includes treatment of baggy lower eyelids, droopy upper eyelids, drooping eyebrows, prominent forehead wrinkles, facial asymmetry, sunken or hollowed looking eyes, ingrown eyelashes and eyelid wrinkles. As well as surgical techniques, he uses Botox for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles and hyaluronic acid fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, Voluma) for volume restoration of youthful facial contours.
Contemporary Facial Rejuvenation
Our conceptual approach to facial rejuvenation has changed in the past decade. Facial ageing is now recognized to be a process of fat and soft tissue volume loss rather than gravitational descent, and our treatments reflect this. We know from experience that people do not want to look different, or visibly changed by their surgeon. They just want to look like a more youthful, healthier version of themselves. This is our goal, and where appropriate we will always recommend non-surgical options first.
Mr Ross is a peer reviewer for British Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal and Oxford University Press.
