Qualified in 1997 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2000 and a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in 2004. Trained in Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, as a specialist registrar in clinical oncology (2001-2007) and worked in research as a clinical lecturer with the University of Cambridge (2005-2007). Awarded the Clinical Research Fellowship in Oncology by the Royal College of Radiologists (February 2004) and the Cancer Research UK Pilot Project Award (October 2005). Appointed Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre (March 2008).
