    Professional profile:
    I have been a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care since 1993. Mypostgraduate training was in Edinburgh and Christchurch, New Zealand. Although I have a particular interest in intensive care and trauma and ophthalmic anaesthesia, I remain practised in anaesthesia for other specialties. I maintain an appropriate continuing medical education/continuing professional development profile, attend national and local conferences and meetings and organise the local postgraduate in-service course for trainee anaesthetists sitting the final Fellowship examination. I am an instructor on national and local 'Advanced Trauma Life Support' courses.
    Personal profile:
    I have many hobbies, particularly rugby, skiing, sailing and photography. I coach midi (under 16) rugby at Boroughmuir RFC. I appreciate most types of music and literature and enjoy crossword puzzles.
