Common Questions About Cosmetic Surgery

Where can I have plastic or cosmetic surgery?

"Cosmetic Surgery is a big decision. Spire cosmetic open evenings will help you find the right surgeon and avoid potential pitfalls."
Mrs CC Kat
Spire Cosmetic Surgeon

Our 37 hospitals nationwide offer a wide range of cosmetic surgery procedures and non-surgical treatments for both men and women. Use our treatment search tool to find the most convenient hospital to you offering the treatment you want.

How do I find a cosmetic surgeon?

We only work with consultant-grade cosmetic and plastic surgeons at Spire Healthcare. These are highly experienced doctors who have completed years of training in plastic and cosmetic surgery. You can choose your surgeon by calling one of our advisors for confidential information, or online using our consultant search tool. You can also ask your GP for advice and may want to take printouts from this website for their reference.

You may have a friend who has recommended a surgeon, which is always reassuring, but bear in mind that surgeons may specialise in particular types of cosmetic surgery. Be careful about choosing a consultant based on someone else's recommendation alone - their situation may be very different to yours.

Our surgeons realise that it is your decision, and will work with you to achieve the results you want.

Our Buyer’s guide gives you more information on how to choose your cosmetic surgeon.

Do you offer free consultations?

A consultation with an experienced consultant surgeon is advice that is worth paying for. We believe it’s important for you to feel you are receiving completely impartial advice and are not being sold to.

If you are offered a free consultation elsewhere, we recommend you check the consultation is with the surgeon who would perform the procedure. At Spire Healthcare you will be seeing the surgeon who will take charge of your treatment from your first consultation, through to your operation and follow-up care.

We do offer free no obligation appointments with experienced cosmetic nurses who can provide you with general advice about the procedure you are interested in. We also offer regular free information events on cosmetic surgery at our hospitals.

To arrange a consultant appointment or a free cosmetic nurse appointment, complete the online enquiry form, or call your local Spire Healthcare hospital.

Do I need a GP referral for cosmetic surgery?

Most cosmetic surgeons will be happy to see you for an initial consultation without a referral from your GP. However, if you plan to go ahead with cosmetic surgery, your surgeon may ask your permission to contact your GP for details of your medical history. This is an important safety precaution, especially if your operation requires a general anaesthetic.

Although you may not need a GP referral to see a consultant, we recommend you consult your GP at the very beginning of the process so that you can get their professional advice.

How much will cosmetic or plastic surgery cost?

Our cosmetic surgery teams will be pleased to give you a guide price for any cosmetic surgery procedure. Just call your local Spire hospital or complete our online enquiry form. These prices will give you an indication of the cost, which will be finalised following your initial consultation, when we will give you a fixed price** for your cosmetic surgery. This will be agreed with you in advance, so you have the reassurance of knowing the full cost of treatment before you come into hospital. Your fixed price will include hospital charges, consultant surgeon and anaesthetist fees and a follow-up consultation.
