Pilates and Aquatic Therapy

Group classes to support you in your recovery from surgery, injury and chronic pain

Our group classes

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital provides group classes in Pilates and Aquatic Therapy, with high standards of care and attention in a relaxed and friendly setting

At our group classes you will meet other people with similar conditions and can enjoy the friendly support and relaxed, warm atmosphere in which the classes are held, helping to remove the feeling of isolation which is sometime felt when you are recovering from an injury.

At your first appointment a detailed history is taken to include a thorough assessment of your condition and a personal recovery programme tailored to your needs.

Each group session is conducted by a team of two dedicated chartered physiotherapists.

Our physiotherapists are able to refer you on to other specialists where required.

Class times

Pilates: Monday 11am to 12 noon
Aquatic Therapy: Friday  12 noon to 3pm

Fees

Initial physiotherapy assessment  £60.80
Pilates course of six hourly classes £72.00
Aquatic Therapy each session £40.00

Pilates

Pilates is a mind and body conditioning exercise programme that targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall central core stability and posture.  It consists of a progressive repertoire of initially mat-based exercises.

Pilates exercises can help to improve spinal mobility, flexibility, body and postural awareness.

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy (also known as Hydrotherapy) is used to treat a wide range of conditions by exercising in a heated pool environment. The warm water relaxes muscles and the buoyancy can assist or resist movement.  This type of exercise aims to reduce pain and stress on joints.

Aquatic Therapy may be of benefit to you if you suffer or are recovering from:

Rheumatic pain
Chronic pain
Orthopaedic surgery

NB Aquatic Therapy course consists of four to six sessions of 45 minutes each

If you have private medical insurance

You will need to check with your insurance company that you are covered for our group classes of Pilates or Aquatic Therapy, and a referral from your GP prior to treatment is also required.

All of our group classes are delivered by a dedicated team of chartered physiotherapists.
