Allergies are the body’s adverse reaction to substances in our everyday environment. These reactions can be caused by a wide range of things including pollen, dust and certain foods. Common allergic reactions include hayfever, asthma and skin abnormalities.

Allergy test, biopsy test, private allergy testing

Testing for allergies can be through taking a sample of blood to be tested in our laboratories or by a skin prick allergy test.

Self Pay Patients - Why wait to be diagnosed?
At Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital you can choose your consultant and decide when it suits you to have your treatment. You can choose to pay for treatment for most types of operations, procedures and tests. For most self-pay treatments, you’ll need a GP referral letter to bring to your first appointment. Simply call us on 01223 266929 to request a guide price or to discuss your personal situation.

Insured Patients -
Simply visit your GP and ask them to refer you to a consultant of your choice and decide when it suits you to have your treatment. Your GP will write a letter of referral and then either you or your GP can contact us to arrange your first out-patient appointment on 01223 266990.

Patch Testing at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital

Patch Testing is available at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital with Consultant Dermatologist Dr Sarah Henderson. The testing is available for the evaluation of allergic contact dermatitis.

Dr Sarah Henderson conducts two tests, the standard patch test and the standard test plus additional tests such as medicimal allergy or cosmetic product allergy. 

Dr Sarah Henderson holds outpatient Patch Testing clinics on Fridays between 11 - 12.30pm where she will fit the patch tests. The patches can be taken off on the following Monday between 6-8pm where Dr Sarah Henderson will read the results and advise accordingly. If further tests need to be carried out or the patches need to be applied for longer Dr Henderson is able to re-read the tests again on Wednesday mornings between 9 - 10.30am.
