Ms Kearney qualified as a medical doctor from University College Dublin, National University of Ireland. During her training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Ireland she became avidly interested in the field of Urogynaecology. She obtained a research fellowship in the Department of Pelvic Floor Surgery at the University of Michigan, USA with Professor John DeLancey. Ms Kearney's research and medical doctorate was in pelvic floor imaging and the pathogenesis of childbirth related pelvic floor injury. She completed her subspecialty training in urogynaecology at University College Hospital, London, prior to taking up a consultant post at Addenbrooke's Hospital. She is accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians in laparoscopic surgery.

Ms Kearney enjoys spending time with family and finds that her 2 young daughters provide plenty of challenges. She relaxes by cooking, reading and trying to grow vegetables. She also enjoys pilates.
