Vikas specialises in both the arthroplasty (joint replacement) and the sports surgery aspects of Knee and Hip Surgery and has a particular interest in Arthroscopic (key-hole) Surgery of the Hip and the Knee. Vikas obtained his primary medical degree in 1997. He then did his Basic Surgical Training Rotation in London and subsequently received his Higher Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the North Thames circuit (Royal London Hospital Rotation), gaining the FRCS (Orth) in 2005. Following this he undertook Specialist Fellowship Training in Knee and Hip Surgery with eminent surgeons in the field at The Wellington Knee Unit, London; Cambridge Hip and Knee Unit, Cambridge; Adult Reconstruction Unit, Hospital for Special Surgery, New York and The Hip Unit, Balgrist Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. His elective practice now is exclusively devoted to the treatment of problems in the hip and the knee joint. Complementing his clinical practice, his research interests centre around early arthritis in the knee and the hip in the young adult and the effect of surgical intervention on the outcome of these conditions. He writes and lectures extensively and is on the Faculty for many National and International courses teaching surgical techniques in knee and hip surgery. He is also the Associate Editor of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (Br) & The British Journal of Sports Medicine.
