    Background Information 
    Professional profile:
    I am an upper gastro-intestinal surgeon with a major interest in oesophageal (gullet) and gastric (stomach) conditions and laparoscopic (key hole) surgery. I trained in the South West and was then a consultant in Cardiff before relocating to Cambridge. I spent two years in research investigating a condition called Barrett's Oesophagus which is caused by gastro-oesophageal reflux (this causes heartburn). This condition is on the increase and has been linked to a rising incidence of gullet cancer. I perform a wide range of laparoscopic operations including those for heartburn, gallstones, hernias and obesity.
    Personal profile:
    My family and I have moved into the countryside close to Cambridge and are enjoying village life, the space and rural pursuits. I am currently attempting to rekindle my hobbies which include watercolour painting and dinghy sailing. If only I had more time!
