    Background Information
    Professional profile:
Paul Hayes is a consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon practising at Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge and Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. He specialises in the management of arterial and venous disease, receiving referrals from across the Anglia region.

His management of venous disease includes the use of minimally invasive endovenous laser, radio-frequency ablation and foam sclerotherapy techniques where appropriate. A particular area of expertise is the use of endovascular techniques to treat thoracic, abdominal and illiac aneurysms, as well as conventional surgery when required. He has published numerous papers on reducing stroke with carotid artery surgery and this remains a research interest. He has wide experience of managing patients with peripheral vascular disease and claudication, using both endovascular and surgical approaches to these patients. In conjunction with the dermatology department, he runs a specialist leg ulcer service in the NHS.

As well as his busy NHS clinic he is also actively involved in improving healthcare through research. He has over 100 publications including book chapters and articles in leading journals such as The Lancet. He is also on the editorial board of an international journal specialising in the management of vascular disease.
    Personal profile:
Paul is as busy out of the office as he is in. When taking a break from renovating their house, he and his wife enjoy cooking and entertaining, travel, and live music. He is also a keen follower of his cricket and rugby teams.
