I am a Consultant Plastics and Hand Surgeon at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. My practice includes Hand and Wrist Surgery, Plastic Surgery for burns and scars, aesthetic breast and abdominal surgery (male and female), cosmetic surgery after weight loss and cosmetic or reconstructive surgery for skin cancer and benign lumps & bumps.
Hand & Wrist Surgery includes tendon and nerve surgery, such as trigger fingers and carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s disease, arthritis of the thumb and other hand joints, painful wrists. I have a particular interest in painful joints of the thumb and wrist and can offer minimal access arthroscopic procedures and joint replacements.
I trained in medicine and surgery at Cambridge and Oxford Universities until 1993, then in Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford and London. After full UK-based Plastic Surgery training, my Fellowship Training involved working with internationally recognised surgeons in the UK and overseas. I was awarded a British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) overseas Fellowship and then a Hand Surgery Interface Fellowship working with five leading Plastics and Orthopaedic Surgeons for 18 months prior to becoming a Consultant.
I travel regularly throughout Europe to visit and operate with leading surgeons in order to keep up to date with the latest improvements in surgical techniques, including Paris, Strasbourg, Lyon and Barcelona in the last three years. I am the Clinical Governance lead for the department in Addenbrookes Hospital and hence have a formal role as well as professional responsibility for the safety and quality of surgery.
