    Background Information 
    Professional profile:
    I qualified from the University of London. I trained in anaesthesia and then developed a research interest in pain management. I spent time working in the MRC laboratory of molecular biology and finally setting up my own laboratory within the University of Cambridge. I was appointed lecturer in anaesthesia and pain relief at the university and was also given the title of John Farman, Professor of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. I now practice full-time in the field of pain management particulary specialising in spinal pain.
