Background Information
Professional profile:
Diagnostic Imaging

I specialise in musculoskeletal imaging in general, and in imaging of sports injuries and chronic overuse injuries in particular. At the Cambridge Lea Hospital, I have access to state-of-the-art imaging facilities and in addition to reporting on plain films, I perform ultrasound, CT and MRI examinations in all musculoskeletal conditions and a wide variety of general abdominal complaints.

Therapeutic Imaging
I also specialise in image-guided treatment of sports injuries and chronic overuse injuries. Using imaging techniques to guide injections ensures that the injected material reaches the intended target, increasing efficacy and potentially reducing the risk of complications. I perform ultrasound or fluoroscopic guided therapeutic injections of steroids, or of anaesthetic for diagnostic purposes. I also inject Hyaluronic acid agents into joints under image guidance and under local anaesthetic for patients with osteoarthritis (avoiding the need for a general anaesthetic). I perform autologous blood injections for individuals with tendon injuries.

Medico-legal reports
I have acted approximately equally for the Plaintiff and the Defendant. In addition to offering a second opinion on one or more radiological examinations, I also am willing to write Radiology Liability and Causation reports in respect of clinical negligence.
Personal profile:
I was appointed Consultant Radiologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge in 1997. I specialise in musculoskeletal radiology and I am the Lead Clinician for this service at Addenbrooke's Hospital. I have written over 50 papers, virtually all in relation to musculoskeletal radiology and I review papers for a number of peer review radiological journals. I have a particular interest in computers and I recently acted as the Lead Clinician for the PACS project (Picture Archiving and Communication System) at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Most importantly I have two small children who ensure I maintain a sense of reality and perspective!
