Dr Shenker trained at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge and St John’s College, Oxford qualifying with awards from both the College and National organisations in 1996. He obtained his registrar post in General Medicine/Rheumatology in 1999 and trained in several teaching hospitals in North London. He combined this time with 2 years as the national Chair for Rheumatology trainees. He is currently the Clinical Director for the Rheumatology Department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
He completed his PhD in basic pain mechanisms at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases and the University of Bath in 2005 and has several publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals. He is the Chief Investigator and Chair of the Steering Committee for the CRPS-UK Registry and also a Founder Member of the CRPS-UK Network. He supervises several projects to help understand this disabling condition better.
Having been a patient and carer at various times in my life, I fully understand the vulnerability and concern of the unknown and this has certainly influenced my practice. Precious time to relax is important and vital to remaining energised at work. I treat my time away from the hospital with respect.
