Qualified from University of Oxford (BA – 1st Class) and St Mary’s Hospital London (MBBS). Specialist training in Oxford. Consultant Gastroenterologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital since 2001.
My particular clinical interests are in diagnostic gastroenterology, including endoscopy and colonoscopy, coeliac disease and management of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis – for which I am clinical lead in Cambridge. Research interests include new therapies in GI disease and the genetic basis of inflammatory bowel disease. I chair the international IBD genetics research consortium, have published extensively in the medical literature and teach and lecture internationally on this topic.
As well as undertaking diagnostic endoscopy I have extensive experience of the full range of medical and dietary therapies, and work closely with colleagues in radiology, pathology, surgery and dietetics to ensure your appropriate investigation and treatment whatever the cause of your symptoms.
