Procedures
Orthopaedic surgeons at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital perform in excess of 1500 orthopaedic procedures a year, including treatments for disorders of the hip, knee, foot, ankle, shoulder, elbow, hand, wrist and spine. The treatments range from arthroscopy to spinal surgery and hip and knee replacement and revision surgery.
Pre-operative assessment
Patients are assessed before orthopaedic surgery at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital. Up to an hour is spent with our pre-operative assessment nurse to assess fitness for the operation and to help the patient understand the surgical procedure, the hospital and any other details and information. Pre-operative assessment helps ensure that patients are fully prepared for their surgery.
Imaging and diagnostics
Specialists at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital utilise x-ray and imaging when required including ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). Where sports injuries have occurred specialists analyse the cause of the injury (for example sporting technique, basic fitness, gait and equipment)
After surgery
Following surgery, our highly skilled team of physiotherapists support the work of the orthopaedic surgeon to aid a fast and effective recovery.

The 62 bed Spire Cambridge Lea hospital has been open for over 21 years in the village of Impington, to the north of Cambridge. The hospital has four operating theatres, two with laminar flow (an air system which helps reduce the risk of infection), a dedicated endoscopy suite, two treatment rooms and 13 consulting rooms.
